CHARITIES

Please come along to the show and support many of our local charities

Horse Rescue Fund

“In addition to rescuing equines in desperate need, our long-established Charity has campaigned for improvements at horse sales, in transit, and for equine welfare. Horses have no voice, but we can speak for them.  When rehabilitated, our horses are placed on adoption to lead happy, useful lives – they are never sold. “

DOGS TRUST

www.dogstrust.org.uk

Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity, and is dedicated to ensuring the welfare of dogs everywhere. Through its network of 17 Rehoming Centres across the UK, the charity cares for over 16,000 stray, unwanted and abandoned dogs each year. Formerly known as the National Canine Defence League, the charity was founded in 1891 to protect dogs from ‘torture and ill-usage of every kind’. Over 115 years later, Dogs Trust is now one of the country’s leading charities and continues to pursue its goals with determination.

While a dog is in the care of Dogs Trust it will receive the very best of care and attention, but Dogs Trust works tirelessly to ensure that each and every dog goes to a happy and loving home of its own. Through a careful homechecking system, staff also ensure that a dog and his new owners are the perfect match.

As suggested by its famous slogan, “A Dog is for Life, Not Just for Christmas”, Dogs Trust is dedicated to promoting the message of responsible dog ownership. The charity invests in campaigns to reduce the number of stray, unwanted and abandoned dogs by promoting neutering, microchipping, and invests in education programmes to reach the dog owners of tomorrow.

Dogs Trust has a non-destruction policy, and will never put a healthy dog to sleep. The charity is working towards the day when all dogs can enjoy a happy life, free from the threat of unnecessary destruction.

The Dogmobile – kindly donated by PetPlan - is a large vehicle, fitted with luxury air conditioned kennels. It’s designed to tour the country visiting events with some gorgeous dogs that are seeking new, loving homes from the nearest Rehoming Centre. The Dogmobile helps people to find out more about rehoming a rescue dog and the work of Dogs Trust. It is also great fun for children to come and say hello to the lovely dogs and help dispel a few myths about rescue dogs.

Tapping House

www.norfolkhospice.org.uk

On behalf of the patients and families who benefit from our vital care I would like to express our gratitude for all the generous support you are offering to The Norfolk Hospice, Tapping House through the East Anglian Game & Country Fair.

The Norfolk Hospice provides a range of services to those people in Norfolk who are affected by cancer and life-limiting illnesses such as Parkinson’s disease and Multiple Sclerosis.

The care and support given to patients and their families by our Hospice is provided without charge throughout Norfolk and the Fens.  It costs £1 million each year to run the Hospice and 85% our costs are paid for by the individuals, organisations and groups who give generously.

As such, the support of local events such as the East Anglian Game & Country Fair is of great importance in ensuring that the Hospice can continue to provide a wide range of care services to patients, families and carers now, and in the future.

The East Anglian Air Ambulance

Since its foundation in 2000, the charity has expanded to provide a 365 day a year service covering Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.  We fly an average of 4 missions per day.
It’s our job to get patients to hospital within the “Golden Hour”, and in an air ambulance that journey will take only minutes, greatly increasing patients’ chances of making a full recovery.
Events like the Game & Country Fair allow us to reach many groups who utilise our life saving service. In 2007 alone we attended 61 agricultural and horse riding related calls, accounting for 6.5%, of our work.

We receive no national government or national lottery funding, and therefore rely solely on public donations to keep our service operational.
