Andy Grand the Event Organiser runs the New York Marathon for The Prostate Cancer Charity!
15/11/2010

The New York Marathon took place on November 7th, The start line was on Staten Island with views across to Manhattan.

It was perfect marathon weather with it being cold and sunny with little wind.

The first half flew by and the last 4 miles seemed to take forever. The finishing line was in central park and I completed the marathon in the official time of 3 hours 51 minutes and 3 seconds. It was truly an incredible day and I managed to raise £2,068.29 plus gift aid for The Prostate Cancer Charity.

I would like to thank everyone that supported the fund raising and also the spectators along the gruelling 26 mile route who were amazing and helped you especially in the closing stages.

In the UK: Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. 35,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year. One man dies every hour of prostate cancer. The Prostate Cancer Charity is the UK's leading charity working with people affected by prostate cancer. They fund research, provide support and information, and campaign to improve the lives of men with prostate cancer.

They provide the only UK-wide prostate cancer Helpline staffed by prostate cancer specialist nurses. Their nurses offer free and confidential information and support to anyone affected by prostate cancer. The Prostate Cancer Charity is working towards a world where lives are no longer limited by prostate cancer. The Charity is fighting prostate cancer on every front - through research, support, information and campaigning.
