Richard Maxwell

We also welcome world famous horse behaviourist Richard Maxwell to the main arena.

He will be demonstrating with some of his own horses and ponies with his 11year old son William as well as working on a few problematic horses brought to the show by members of the public. Richard mixes both traditional and alternative methods of horsemanship inspired by Monty Roberts who he spent time with in the Household Cavalry, to tackle the horse's issues and strengthen the bond between owner and horse.

Testimonial from Chantelle Harrison who attended the 2010 show.

"I was thrilled when I discovered I had been offered the chance to have my horse trained infront of me by Gary Witheford. I have always followed the work of Gary and other similar horse trainers but never felt their methods helped me with my horse Lightning, who is a highly strung, adrenaline fuelled Lippizana. Prior to the day circumstances arose and I was told that it would be infact Richard Maxwell who would be using Lightning for his demonstrations on the first day of the Game Fair. Again I was thrilled by this and couldnt wait to meet him, show him Lightning and see what he could do with her. There are basic tools you need to learn in order to enjoy horses and one is to be able to get on the horse while it stands still and the other is to remain in control of the horse when on board...Prior to meeting Richard, I really had no control over either of these!!! I think Richard was initially surprised by Lightning but he really seemed to like working with her. He taught me alot both in and out of the ring, showing me the skills he uses to control his horses both on the ground and off the ground. I learned many techniques which I am still using today. Its not been a miraculous cure for some of her bad habits, it has certainly made an improvement and I am very greatful for the time he spent on Lightning. Both Lightning and myself had a fantastic time at the game fair and I cant wait to see what is in store for the 2011 event!!"

Horse Behaviorist Richard Maxwell is demonstrating at the Game Fair on 16th & 17th April at the Norfolk Showground.

He is looking for suitable horses for the clinic demos. If u have a horse with loading problems, handling problems or a ridden problem that isn't dangerous & u would like to submit yourselves for either day please email richardmaxwell19@aol.com or if you have any friends that you think may be interested.
